Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to oversee our accounting and HR duties. This unique position offers the opportunity to gain experience in both financial management and human resources within a growing company operating in the hottest industry today. As a professional services company, our product is our people so maintaining a high level of employee satisfaction and happiness is essential. You will work directly with the CEO to establish budgets and help define the financial strategy for the business.
Responsibilities
Accounting:
Oversee accounting data migrations and accounting software.
Process accounts payable and receivable.
Maintain general ledger and reconcile bank statements.
Reimburse employees for expenses.
Ensure the proper collection and filing of taxes for invoices and expenses (GST).
Prepare financial reports and assist with budget planning.
Support external accountants in preparing the fiscal year end.
Stay up-to-date on relevant accounting regulations.
Human Resources:
Assist with onboarding of new hires.
Process payroll, including calculating deductions and withholdings.
Maintain employee records.
Establish competitive employee benefits including extended health, RRSP matching, and bonuses.
Assist with setting up and managing an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
Engage with WorkSafe BC as required.
Provide administrative support for HR activities, such as preparing reports and managing employee relations.
Write HR policies for the company wiki.
Stay informed of current HR laws and regulations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum 3 years of experience in a combined accounting and HR role or similar experience.
Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficient with Quickbooks Online.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Meticulous attention to detail.
Strong sense of financial ethics.
